Lakes of Katy hosted a very exciting Big Dawg qualifier. Not only did they organize a spectacular and well-run event, they provided entertainment beyond an average water ski tournament.
From the very first day the event was set up with announcers and the shores lined with speakers for music and play by play action. The addition of the bubble buoys from Goode landscaped the ski course with bright orange buoys at a perfect height. Sleek and stylish Nautiques purred down the lakes all weekend allowing for top scores and records.
There were some surprises for the crowd when top Dawgs David Miller, Thierry Malhomme and Greg Badal did not take the podium. Bruce Dodd was most impressive with his stamina and energy fighting his way to the top to take down the younger Dawgs. ”How old is this guy?” was heard on the docks and a quick look-up on USA Water ski shows that Bruce is a strong 53 year old.
